I found a Winchester Model 70 Featherweight at a gun show that I assume was manufactured in the mid-1980s. The serial number is G157xxxx. Does anyone have info to confirm the date? Thanks.

I checked the serial number at old guns .com and they stop at serial number 1,530,000 which was 1981. My guess would place your rifle's manufacture date around 1983 or 1984. All the best...

Gil -- Thanks for your research. Yesterday a friend checked his M70 that he bought new in 1983 and the serial number was 163xxxx. That's close enough for what I wanted to know! Thanks again for your time.
