Looking for an old article out of a Deer & Big Game Rifles or Complete Rifleman magazine. Maybe 1998 or 1999. The article, I think, was by Jon Sundra. He was advising how to glass bed a Ruger 77 action into a Boyd's JRS stock. I lost my magazine, and I can't find the article by searching the web. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What do you want to know, exactly? Bedding one bolt-action rifle isn't too terribly different from another, I'll stick my neck out and say that.
I use quarter-inch dowel rods, heavily waxed, to keep the action screw holes from filling up with epoxy. Just do the bottom of the receiver first, then the floor plate / trigger guard separately. Float the barrel, or pressure-bed it, as per your personal preference (I free-float all of my hunting rifles).
Done two 77s, no problems. Good luck.

I have a Ruger 77 Mark II with a wood stock. Want to buy a JRS laminate from Boyd's. The article I referenced demonstrated how to bed the Ruger. Evidently, the diagonal stock screw kind of messes with the bedding, so it was suggested to just use the rear screw as a guide. Anyway, he suggested to glass the action and the thick portion of the barrel, float the thin portion of the barrel. I have never bedded a gun, and want to be extra sure/careful. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Ah - first time, best consult some form of gunsmithing book, preferrably with pictures. If anyone has links to web pages showing this, that would be great. Kinda hard to describe everything over the phone, so to speak.
