What should one of these sell for new?

Thanks in advance.

I saw one in a local gun shop for 569.00, seemed pricy but may be right on due to circumstances that I`m unaware of.

Last ones I saw at Davidson's were in the $700.00 range. They don't have them anymore. From what I remember other members posting before, you're on the low side of the average price. Overpriced? Probably. Worth it? ****, yes!

The missing word is not too bad. Just the place that is not heaven.

Thanks for the feedback, I am in trouble, this rifle is calling me :D

Not sure I understand the missing word message, feel free to elaborate, as I have a strong burden on my heart to seek the message of Gods Word and not to be caught up in tearing it in to little pieces(single verses),

Have a blessed day :)

I think he's referring to the auto-censor on the forum leaving '****' instead of a naughty word he wrote!

I`m a little slow out of the gate sometimes, thanks for the heads up :)

scfisher; Did you answer the call of the 1897T? As to the price, what you were quoted probably is about as good as it gets. These rifles are no longer made. In early 2003 I paid $524 for mine.

Good luck with your dilemma. :D

Not yet, but wrestled several times today with going back by the gun shop. Was busy all day and have resolved that if they still have it next week I will probably have to bite the bullet :D

Just trying to explain that the missing word was just the H**L and not something much more objectionable. Man, this is a word used by preachers in church! How objectionable can it be? As long as I'm not sending somebody there.

WOW! I can't believe those prices. I paid $449 for mine in September 2003.

You did well Raoul.

I should have clarified that $524 was out the door. Actual rifle cost was $488. Then add 7.25% city, county, and state sales tax for $35.29. Fortunately in MO we don't get charged an extra fee for the fed form.

So, now that we have price out of the way :D

How`s about some testimonials: regrets? , wish you had another, compare to other 22 cal rifles, accurracy---you know , encouragement ;)

This is much more than I would have thought to pay, but, it is a great looking rifle.

Anyone scoped or using sights? I would be using for fuzzy tails

Thanks for all the input

I had some extraction problems with mine when I first got it. Returned it to Marlin and they reamed the chamber and brought the trigger pull down to 4# at my request. This was my first lever action .22. Since the 1897T, I have acquired an 1897CB,(same rifle except for 24"barrel), 1897CL and an older 39A. I guess you could say I like them.

I had a Marble's Tang mounted peep sight on the T, which enhanced the accuracy. Only took it off because my 11 year old grandson prefers the semi-buckhorn sight that came with the rifle. He'll end up with the rifle when he turns 12; unless I soften up :D

The accuracy is good for my purposes. The T is just a little short for my preference, but it's a plenty good squirrel and rabbit gun. I've never really measured any groups shot with this rifle, but as I stated, accuracy is good enough for my intended purposes.

Encouragement; go buy it before it becomes the one that got away ;) And I've had a few of those :(

Search in this same category for the thread "Are 1897's OK in this thread?" There's info of what I did to mine and also stuff other people wrote me about it. I don't regret buying mine, I thnk it has "character."
