This mornings local paper says resignation is effective Dec. 31. I wonder what/who the PGC will replace him with.

Here's (http://www.pgc.state.pa.us/pgc/cwp/view.asp?Q=162956&A=11) the press release on the PGC website.
It'll be interesting to see if his sweeping changes to deer season will remain intact.

What we need in PA is for the framers and landowners to open up some of the land they posted over the last ten years. There was a time when I would see deer every time I entered the woods, but now the deer have learned to go on the land that hunters aren't allowed to. I understand a person has a right to post their land, but look around as you drive through our State, it is hard to find new areas to hunt. Even if you seek out permission from the landowners and are a responsible hunter, most of the time you have no idea of who to contact. The public lands are good, but they are becoming over hunted. I am lucky to harvest a deer now and then, but I feel if these lands would open up, it would benefit all PA hunters and land owners. I think the GAme Commission should work hand-in-hand with land owners, offering special tax breaks and incentives for them to allow hunting on portions of their land. The deer herd could be managed more effectively and certain areas of PA wouldn't be over crazed. If the Game Commission could provide a listing of land owners who would welcome hunters, even if it would be for a limited time during certain seasons, look at how advantagous this would be. A program should be started "Farmers helping Hunters", " HUnters helping Farmers". I for one would be willing to donate time working on a farm or woodlands for a comparitable amount of hunting time. I live in Northeatern PA and if anyone wishes to accept such an offer write to Mike at: sportys@aemail4u.com this does not only relate to deer hunting but small game and varmints.
