howdy, gents
i just want to give a big "thumbs up" to Magnum Research!!!
i bought a used Lone Eagle single-shot cannon-breech .22 Hornet made by Magnum Research.
the trigger pull was AWFUL, maybe ten pounds.
i e-mailed Magnum Research and they answered immediately, saying to send the gun to them to inspect and/or repair.
i did so, enclosing a letter, and asked them to get the pull down closer to 3 lbs if possible; the factory standard was 4 to 4.5 lbs. i also stated plainly that i knew the gun was way out of warranty and that i was perfectly willing to pay for their services. and i told them that i was not the original owner.
several weeks later, maybe a month at most, my pistol was returned to me. they enclosed a note saying that they replaced the entire lower unit including trigger mechanism. at no charge. they even sent it back freight prepaid via fed-ex. and the new trigger's pull was crisp, light, no creep, no backlash.
this is a very accurate pistol, got a fine barrel on it, and now with the excellent trigger pull, it shoots tiny little groups.
i was astonished that Magnum Research did this free to a second-owner, especially installing a whole new lower unit, not just touching up the trigger.
standing behind their product like that is getting rarer and rarer nowadays. just thought i'd share this with any of you who are thinking about acquiring a Lone Eagle.
a historic footnote: i bought the Lone Eagle from the gent who owned B&B Guns in north hollywood. you may remmeber that horrific shootout in the late 90's when a couple of bank robbers in "bulletproof" vests/etc and toting automatic weapons shot it out with LAPD officers armed with handguns. the badguys were winning big-time. the police finally went to the nearest gunstore (B&B) and got some long guns, then went back to the bank and ended the gunfight. the video is famous, right? a TV crew filmed the whole shebang.
well, ironically, B&B was forced to close by the *&(!^@#$% city of LA, which is hounding gunstores out of business one-by-one citywide. where will the cops go next time they need help, which B&B gave them FREE, no questions asked, take-what-you-need, guys......
california's state gun laws are absurd, but LA is going the extra mile to deprive its citizens of their guns & rights. arrggghhhh!!!!!
(yeah, i know, i ought to move to stanley, idaho.....)
