Need suggestions for a spotting scope in $200 to $300 range. Will be used for BPCR - out to 500 meters (547 yards). Buris seems to get reviews on Midways site. Also, should I go for a 80mm objective or spend less and get a 60mm? Any and all suggestions and.or opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I'm also considering a new spotting scope for BPC silhouette. Most of the experienced shooters use, and swear by, the Kowa scopes.

Yes I've seen a lot of Kowa's also on the line but for the magnification and objective I want they are too expensive. It would be nice to be able to actually handle all the scopes you are considering but I'll just have to base my decision on the reviews and opinions of others. Thanks for the response.

Hitch, I see we aren;t far from each other, I am a little south of Carlisle. My best reccommendation would be to go to Cabelas up in Hamburg and you can get a hold of a bunch of different scopes to compare. I was up today and picked up a Bushnell Trophy 20-60x65 for $193. I was going to get the 25-50 for 189 but i checked the bargain cave and found the 20-60. I think that is probably your best bet to get a large selection to compare of spotting scopes around here, the other option would be Bass Pro shops in Harrisburg, but the prices are a little higher and the selection is not quite as big.
P.S. Where do you usually shoot?

Live in York County and belong to Starview Sportsmans Assoc. Just started in BPCR and will be shooting at the Shippensburg range next year. Do you shoot BPCR? Thanks for your input.

I haven't got into BPCR, right now i am just mastering reloading for accuracy. I do compete at the gun club I belong to (upper adams fish and game) in the running deer shoots, heck of a lot of fun, 3/4 scale deer target moving along a 75 yard track at 100 yards. there are 3 stages, one where the target goes at 15 (or 20) mph one standing and one where the target goes at 20 (or 25) mph. (i know there is a 5mph diff. in target speeds, i forget what the slow speed is) you fire 4 shots offhand at each stage. I would like to go over to shippensburg and try some silloutte shooting (probably smallbore) sometime. Here is our club's running deer shoot page http://www.mindspring.com/~jwking/uafg-rd.html
