I just aquired a Stevens Buckhorn Model 56 .22 rifle that I am trying to restore so my son can start using it. I can not find any information on the gun anywhere. I am trying to find out if the gun can be fitted with a safety of any kind. It does not appear to have one ever. It does have a funny thumb screw back behind the bolt where the hammer/plunger is. It has two slots cut into the barrel assembly like something should be under the the thumb screw. Does anyone have a manual or knowledge of what its for or if it is the safety mechanism?

Also, what is a good supplier of gun parts? I need a new magazine for it and a rear dove tail iron site and a scope mount for the gun.

Thanks,

Rob
