I have a 1984 Marlin in 357 calibre. I recently joined a cowboy action shooting club and have a problem. The magazine tube holds 9 rounds of 38 spl. A typical stage at a cowboy action shooting match requires you to shoot 10 rounds from your lever gun. Is there any moification that can be done to extend the magazine tube to hold 10??

The Marlin 1894C magazine holds ten .38 Specials or 9 .357 Magnums. The last round goes in tough, but it does go in. Try again.

One other option is to disassemble the mag tube, pull out the follower, and cut it down. You can also take a coil off the spring if it's too hard to load. I am guessing the rules won't let you start a ten-shot stage with one chambered, and nine more behind it?

I had one of those and it worked like a charm with 10 of the Winchester Cowboy .38 cartridges. Those little bullets are really flat-nosed and thus are a skosh shorter than round-nosed and SWC cartridges. One of the other shooters was achieving a similar effect with handloads in which he seated flat-nosed bullets deep enough to achieve the same over-all length.

My 44 CB had a follower (plug) in the tube that limited the loads to 10. I removed it, and now it will hold 13.
YMMV.
