I'm checking out WMA's here in FL to see who allows hogs to be taken as small game. Because i can't think of a good squirrel/rabbit/hog gun other than my shotgun, and that means having to make noise to chamber different style rounds I'd like to carry two guns, my shotgun for hogs and my .22 for everything else. Does anybody else do this and if so how - with a pack for one of them? Is there a better rimfire rifle that could cover all three that I'm not thinking about/

If allowed I'll carry a sidearm for hogs and my .22 for everything else. I just need to fiqure out if "no centerfire rifles really means no centerfire weapons".

Just called FWC - I can carry a handgun - problem solved. Still curious on any reccomendations on squirrel/rabbit/hog combo weapons other than pump action shotguns. I could maybe see a single shot break action shotgun working pretty well.

A Savage Mod 24 O/U with a 12 ga bbl and a 30-30 bbl. May have to scrounge the gun shows and pawn shops to find.

I have the same problem on our WMA here. No centerfires means just that, handgun or rifle. A shotgun with fine shot is great for the rabbits and squirrels but won't cut it on hogs. My solution is a .22 Magnum rifle with full metal jacket bullets. It will penetrate a hog's head to the brain, and will take squirrels and rabbits without unduly tearing them up. It's no good if the squirrels and rabbits are running, and the rabbits usually are, but I don't know of a better compromise. I won't carry two guns. Too much trouble and I'll surely be carrying the wrong one when I need the other.

A side-by-side, find one that will zero a slug reasonably well from one barrel or the other, and a shot load in the other barrel for the small game.

That's about the best I can think of....
