Trying to be proactive and get my ducks in a row... the one thing i've wondered, since this is the FIRST time i've had to fireform my brass... what do you folks suggest for a load, ie. Powder and weight, bullet weight, etc. Thus far i have 100 R-P 35 whelen brass neck sized and ready to go.
Thanks for the suggestions
Jamie
Some folks use a reduced load using a fast burning powder suitable for handguns, a cereal filler (cornmeal, cream of wheat, cream of rice, etc) and a wax plug.
I use the slowest powder in the pantry (happens to be AA8700 at the moment) and whatever weight bullets on hand that normally don't get used for anything else. Fill the case to capacity, leaving room for bullet seating to normal depth, use a standard primer to ignite and head for the range. Get nice, fully formed cases and it's a blast to find the Point of Impact and Kentucky Windage it to the desired placement. Ballastics are on the slow side, but amazing how well the group turns out.
Something to tinker with while routinely forming brass.
