Picked up my Storm in 45 ACP the other day. Put a TRU-GLO,TRU-POINT red dot sight on it. Went to the range today. It shot hole to hole(at 25 yds.) with old military 230 gr. ball. Also with 165gr. COR-BON.(My Kimber CCW load) In fact it shot to the same point with both of the loads. After I finished messin' with the scope I shot 8 shots out of the mag into a one ragged hole group that measured just under 2". It really shoots great and seems to feed everything,----BUT---- The trigger was designed by (in my opinion) a liberal lawyer. It's terrible!! It also looks to be darn near impossible to "fix". I've herd of a 8 lb. trigger but ---a 12 lb. safety?? No kiddin',it must take 12 lbs. of force to go between SAFE and FIRE. It is very easy to clean. Take it down(it might take 15 secs.),spray it out with Brake-Kleen,lightly oil with WD-40, and thats it.It has a chrome lined bore also. Several passes with WD-40 and it's clean. I will try to "wear in" the trigger and the safety and we'll see how it is after that.----- GOOD SHOOTIN'---pruhdlr

Picked up a NIB Storm in 45 acp from Academy Sports and Outdoors. It came with the 10" top pic rail for optics. I topped of the picatinny with a Bushmaster mini risertopped them off with Weaver see thrus. This raised my 3x9x40 scope up enough above the "rabbit ear rear sight," to get nice eye relief.Added a tac lite to the "pull out" rail under the barrel and a laser to the short rail I installed on the right side of the foreend.Added swivels to the studs and then a black adjustable sling. I sighted in the open sights and then zeroed the scope @ 50 yds, after firing10runds of 230 grain FMJ ammo. This is a really nice, quality carbine. I have a Moerse Lekker vented barrell shroud orderd to finish off this carbine.Beretta.... you really get what you pay for!!!!

My Storm's safety and trigger are still VERY(!) heavy. I figured that they would wear in before now. I will try to figure how to get these mechs. out so I can lighten the trigger a little. The safety can be pushed fairly quietly using a finger on either side.
My weapon still shoots great and has accounted for many hogs, several of which were on the rather large size.
For hunting, give the Hornady 230gr (+P) XTP's a try. The penetrate really well and seem to hold together during impact. They are rated a 950fps by Hornady but I have chrono'ed them at 990fps from the 16" bbl. This loading will group at the same place at 15yds and 25yds. The group will be very slightly low at 50. All my shots have been in heavy brush and at very close ranges.
My weapon will not feed a simi-wadcutter but will run reliability on anything else, including any HP.
Enjoy your Storm. I have mine. -----pruhdlr

I can live with the trigger. The safety IS tight; I applied some "moly grease" to it & that made it a tad smoother. We've got some good size hogs in Texas as well, but most of the shots I've taken at hog were from 75-100 yds out, from an elevated tripod(maybe a stretch with a .45?). Might try the Storm on a porker,or just keep using the Marlin 45/70 or Saiga 308. Thanks,Pru.

I eventually had to get my Cx4 triggered worked on by a gunsmith. The factory setting is around 10lbs. Mind is down to a 7lbs. Still feels very heavy. You might want to check out www.berettaforum.net and look up trigger work. They have a very detail discussion about how to do it yourself. I actually printed the instructions out for the gunsmith since he was not too familiar with the gun. I was not brave enough to attempt it myself. I have a .40 caliber and shoot it out to 50 yds. I put a cheapee 3x9 compact scope to try at 100yds but the groupings are pretty bad. Great liittle carbine though! Its my go to gun at home. I would rather use this than my ar15.

Thanks for the above info,BOP. Will "tinker" with my weapon in the next couple of days and post the outcome.
My weapon has has the front and rear sight ears cut off (by me) and a small open red dot sight(TRU-GLO,TRU-POINT) installed on the long, top rail.
My application is hogs at 10 paces, and for that the heavy trigger is not so bad as long as it breaks clean. The above mentioned 7lbs would be great for me.
Thanks again and good shootin'. -----pruhdlr

Got my trigger down to 7lbs,8oz,as per my Lyman digital trigger pull gauge.
Used a small flat needle file. Took long flat strokes accross entire face of cut, without applying very much pressure. Am used to working with metal,so the plastickie stuff was kinda "challengeing".
I will dry fire the action using a piece of leather in front of the hammer(with top half off) at least 500 times to see if it smoothes out further.
There is still a little creep to the pull stroke but that cannot be taken out,at least by me. I'm scared of working with plastic. -----pruhdlr

Kudos on doing the trigger job yourself. I took my wife, sister and husband to the range the other day and between my Cx4 and S&W ar15 they all like the Cx4 better. Do you have a picture of your Cx4 with its ears chopped off? I don't like the rear bunny ear at all. Especially with a cheap scope that has a eye relief less than 3" I get a little tap once a while. You are a brave man chopping them ears off! Let me know the results of your hog adventure. I entertain the idea of using mine .40 Cx4 loaded with Hornadys XTP 180 gr bullets but am a little timid. Would definately carry my .44 magnum wheelgun just too be safe. Been wanting to shoot the hornadys thru some wet newspaper to see its penetration/expansion but its tough being here in Houston. Concrete and 2 million people everywhere with very strict ranges makes it hard for a guy to test his handloads.
