I was in a great gun shop last week and spotted this rifle hiding among some others on a rack. It was NRA mint and had a hang tag price of $150. There was a minor rust spot on the exterior of the barrel (that I fixed at home in 15 minutes). I got the gun for $100 and headed for home. Sure glad I did not have to spend over $500 for a new rifle. That's why I buy used guns. All the best...

Great buy! I paid lots more for mine, and it had a worn-out frizzen. T/C sent me a new one, which didn't fit. They then sent me a whole new lock, free! Good people to deal with.

Jack,
The first thing I do with T/C frizzens is throw them away and replace them with Lyman frizzens. The local blackpowder shops installs about 500 Lyman frizzens a year in T/C flintlocks. I wrote to T/C back in the 1970s regarding ignition problems with their case-hardened frizzens. They sent a replacement frizzen which soon failed to function. All the best...
