I have been looking at a Marlin CB, (I am assuming), in the store. It has a nominal 26 inch, octagonal barrel with a full length magazine tube. Straight grip, semi-buckhorn rear sights.
I already have an 1895, and enjoy using it. I am intrigued by this model, as it seems to balance very nicely. I suspect that the barrel is slightly smaller in diameter than the 1895.
Does anyone have any experience with this rifle?
I would be using it primarily for deer hunting, as well as playing at the range. Most of the shooting would be done with cast bullets.
I noted that this rifle is not drilled and tapped on the side of the receiver for aperture sights, but there are a couple of holes on top, probably for scope bases.
Possiblity of a peep sight for this rifle?
In advance, thanks.

My 1895LTD1 has a 24" half octagon/half round barrel with the full mag tube. As you say, balances well and the extra weight sure helps with the recoil. It has the shotgun style butt, and wonder if the CB has the cresent butt. That will hurt with anything approaching full loads!

The receiver top d/t'd holes are for scope mounting, or can be used for several different receiver sights now available for it. Ashley makes a Ghost ring sight. Can't think of the names off hand, but have seen Williams and Lyman aprature sight types being advertised. Might have to get higher front sight posts if installing the add-on receiver sights.
