Can anyone tell me anything on Heritage Rough Rider .22/22mag/ I found two that I can get for $100 ea. but I don't know anything about them. Should I just plunk the money for the Ruger single six? I'd like an alternative gun for camping, knocking about, not real hunting but able to take a squirrel, rabbit or our local rattlers. Thanks

I bought one last year for my son to learn to shoot a revolver with. This one has a four inch barrell with adjustable sites. It shoot just as good as any other revolver that i have owned. The finish is rough and it is not as well made as a single six but for a knock around gun i like this one.I use it when mowing so that if i drop it of the tractor and run over it i haven't lost a lot.

I purchased one back when they first came out. Mine has a 4 and 3/4' bbl with birds head grips. I am not impressed with it. The wear on the cylinder is really bad. The action would bind up from the day I got it caused it to jam. Now the timing is off so it actually will shave the side of a long rifle bullet off. The barrel to chylinder gap is way to big also. The rugers are real workhorses. I purchased a taurus DA .22 because it held 9 shots and had a quicker loading swing out cylinder. But I do like single action 22s. Maybe heritage has improved their design b/c the hammers look different on the newer ones. But I wouldn't buy one again.
