I loaded my 1895 with 405gr/1400fps loads thinking that 1800 ftlbs shouldn’t be that big of a deal. Oh man, was I wrong! That load is uncomfortable. I calculated 20 ftlbs recoil energy after I got home from the range.

My 336 30/30 loaded to about the same 1800 ftlbs energy has a calculated 11 ftlbs of recoil energy. That’s with 150gr/2300fps loads.

My mistake was relating equivalent muzzle energy to recoil. Lesson learned. Ouch!
