View Full Version : Hi from Andy
Well, been in the north here for a week or so, I have to say, war has gotten better in the last ten years, we have flushing toilets, haha. Im by Tikrit, and as near as I can tell, I have nothing to complain about. A lot of things in my section to mprove, but thats why I am here, I just consider myself a visiting troubleshooter (as opposed to the people in the unit who probably consider me a visiting troublemaker) I work with a bunch of good guys, some of whom I trained at the MOS School. As soon as I figure out where to store them and link to them I will try to get you all some good Helicopter Pics. You know how it goes, always see cool things when you don't have a camera with you. Everyone here seems in pretty good spirits, keep in mind that we are in one of the best spots in Iraq.
Andy

Andy, how is it going and what are you doing these days. Can you give us a report from the field so to speak. Would love to know how things really are.
Well, not too much to report. Iraq has quieted down a bit, but I think you all knew that from the news, or lack of it. Most people here are not too happy about the Captain's "Mercy Killing" verdict. We already have soldiers watching Iraqis firing rockets into our FOB and not returning fire because they are not sure they can shoot. I have actually been running non-stop for two weeks, as Commander of Relief for a few of our OPs. No worry about our guys, they are just waiting to rock the "Ma Duece" Its warming up quick here, but is still bearable. We all appreciate everyone's support, more than I can put in words. Our FOB is almost overrun with little tiny gray foxes, but I figure thats better than big, ugly rats, lol. The Iraqis feel safe enough around us now that they are starting to move back into houses around our base, no problems so far, I think they are just trying to get on with their lives. I would like to think that Iraq will be drawn down quite a bit in the somewhat near future, but time will tell. I actually got a red-dot scope for my m-16A2, that was a fun toy for about 3 hours. I wish I was a high speed SF guy, they get the big money Trijicons, I get a Aimpoint. Better than irons at night tho.
Well, I am going to have to go.
