My friend just bought a .45 from the local gun shop. It has a stainless upper with a black lower. Slide is marked colt government model mk4 80 series. The lower frame however is para ordinance and it is a double stack mag. with 10 round capacity. Is this normal or is it mis matched? The gun shoots great by the way. He traded a sigma .40 and $300 boot, did he get a good deal? The gun is in perfect shape.

This is a deliberate mismatch and whether he got a good deal or not depends on how he feels about it. The value of a mismatched firearm is difficult to determine. Something like buying a Chevy and finding everything marked Ford under the hood.

A gun put together out of parts might work very well, and it might be crap. Just have to shoot it a little and see.
I doubt that Para ships frames with Colt slides, or vise versa.
"Value," in addition to the customers's perception, would depend on who did the work and what parts were used in the rest of the gun.
No idea what Sigmas are worth, so I wouldn't even hazard a guess.

Para-Ordinance only sold frames when they first went into business, so you or your gunsmith had to supply the rest of the parts. Quality depended on how well it was fitted.

Thanks. The pistol works smooth and is pretty accurate. Also it hasn't had a misfire or hiccup after about 50 rounds.

That's a good point, Jack. It also means there are other mismatches out there in use.
