I got the new Midway catalog a couple of days ago and didn't know Saeco made so many molds. They even show the Saeco top punch # that will fit Lyman or RCBS sizers. Even had a section for factory parts that showed a bunch of Winchester barrels that's got my thinking about picking up a old Winchester lever out of a pawn shop or something.

One thing to note about Saeco stuff, you have to use Saeco handles for their moulds. It tends to be higher priced and not as well built as Lyman's handles. Their mould blocks are also on the small side of what I would like to see for some of their larger bullets.

However, Saeco is the only maker that I have seen that makes a gas checked 255 gr. bullet for the .45 Colt/.454 Casull.

I use Saeco moulds and handles and while they do tend to cost a little more than other manufacturers, I find their products to be of excellent quality. To be specific, their mould handles are built just as well as the newer, large Lyman handles (I have both) and both seem to be made by the same manufacturer. Both are forged, heavy duty, and the hinge pins are identical. As to their mould blocks being on the small side, my two Saeco.45 ACP mould blocks are, in fact, larger and heavier than my Lyman .45 Colt block. Of the two brands, the Saeco has the thicker and heavier sprue plate. Saeco moulds and handles are built to last.

I agree that Saeco moulds are very high quality. I have several and find them much better than the Lyman products. They also are available in what I feel are better designs than Lyman.

I guess they beefed stuff up since I looked at them years ago, and thought that they were on the slim side of tough.

I'll rethink getting that 255 gas check 45 bullet for doing hot .45 colt +p stuff in my 454 Puma and Encore.

I only have one of the Saeco molds right now and altered a set of Lee six cav. handles to fit it. The mold seems to be a good one and when I buy another mold of that brand, I will try a set of their handles. Being a little on the cheap side, I don't have any Lyman or Saeco handles yet, although I have several Lyman molds and one RCBS that I had to alter the Lee handles for also.

All 4 of my Saeco molds are less than 2 years old and are of the absolute highest quality. I really, really like the hinge on the spru plate being on the side of the mold instead of on the end. Their handles look and feel just like Lyman's. I put Saeco molds ahead of everybody.

I don't have any Lyman or Saeco handles yet, BillI bought two pair of Saeco and two pair of Lyman large handles on ebay that were like new. The Lyman handles were still in the original clear plastic boxes. Once casters obtain their handles, they tend to reuse them as needed so the demand for handles is not as great as the demand for more moulds. Check out ebay and see if they don't have something that will fit your pocketbook, I did!
