Just purchased a .44 mag in a Ruger Super Redhawk and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to what type/brand red dot scope to buy. I will primarily be using this gun for hunting and moderate target shooting. Thanks for any suggestions....

I shoot an aimpoint 5000 on mine. It seems to work very well and I have several thousand rounds thru it now. It has a one minute dot which I like over some of the larger dots I have looked at.

My eyes are not as good as they used to be and this is a real shooting aid for me.

I think there are several good "dot" scopes on the market so you may want to look around and thru others. The aimpoints are kind of pricy, but real quality.

If you havn't done so get a pistol smith to put in a set of Wolff or Brownell's springs and do a trigger job on the Super Redhawk. It will make a big difference in the way it shoots. I also put Marshall Stantons bore lapping kit thru mine. Tightened up the groups a bunch.

Good luck in your search

Falcon duke ,

I tell you no lie I went and bought the Bushnell holosight Gen. III for my 454 last yr. and shoot hundreds of heavy rounds through it and man it stays right on . Now I will have to say that on midway .com that the reveiws said that the thing is hard to sight in because it projects the dot and ring as though they are fifty yards ahead of the barrel. I must say that yes they were right. It was a beast to get sighted in probably around thirty rounds to get it perfect but after that bam bam bam evertime right in the bullseye. I even dropped it twice out of my bandolier holster (which I hate ) twice this hunting season and it still shot right on the money they are fogproof ,shockproof and moisture proof etc.. once sighted in they will continuously hold a zero ! They even have a new more sleek version out for 2005 that lays down more than the Gen. III and has the same technology in it . They are fashioned after the same technology used in a F-14 tomcat fighter jet. I tell you you cant go wrong . I love mine Leupold makes one now that even has 1x-4x power and you know they are ledgendary for there ability to hold a zero also . I though the leupold was a little pricy the GenIII was about 279.00 and I think the leupold was around 400.000 the new 2005 bushnell 05 model is about the same price as the Gen III.
