have any of you ever used a brunton binocular in their "epoch line, especially the 7.5x43 mm model X75, which has a list price of $1,349?

i would be very interested in anybody who has a done a side-by-side comparison with a comparable zeiss, leica or swarowski binocular in re brightness and especially resolution.

i saw a test report from an independent testing lab which rated the brunton as slightly superior to the other three brands when evaluated on an aggregate of tests for clarity & resolution, brightness, waterproofing, impact-resistance etc.

personally i have never looked thru a pair so i had no idea they were in that same league, although the price should be a giveaway re that.

thanks for your input

I have looked at the Brunton epoch and i was not impressed. They are very bright ,crisp, and contrast rich.BUT the collamation is BAD and the image is fuzzy at the outer edge of the view. They would be a super great deal at $300.00 to $350.00
I could no way put them in the same class as the big Dogs like leica, swarovski, kahles and zeiss.I might just nit pick too much, but i love optics! I have Put binoculars through all kinds of test .Try this one, find something like a car tag and fine tune your focus on it at about fifty yards or so. after you do that have someone stick a page from the phone book in the view about 10 yards from the end of your binoculars.
If the numbers and letters are in focus you have depth of field that is second too none.If the words are not in focus, go ahead and put them in focus in the CENTER of your view. after they're in focus slowly move the words to the far outer edge of your view. and see if they are still in focus.
Don't get me wrong now, your Binoculars don't need to do all this $rap i just said to spot deer in the woods. But the better your binoculars are in good conditions the better they are in poor light .plus they don't give you head and eye pains.
