I have a 70's BAR which has a very deep dovetail for the rear sight. I haven't used the iron sights for years but recently switched to a Leupold QD mount for my scope and wanted to install some kind of iron sight as a backup. The old sight is missing parts and I understand they are no longer available. Has anyone got an idea of a replacement? Ideally I favour a receiver sight but the QD base takes up a lot of room and I don't think I could fit one on. I really like the Leupold system though. Thanks...Y

yippert - You might want to do a search for Gun Parts Corp on the web, they may have an original rear sight for your rifle... CEJ

Thanks for the tip, CEJ. They list the part as sold out but at least that.'s a start. ... Y

If you can live without an original try the Williams fire sights. I put a set on my Remington muzzle loader and it was like my old eyes went back 20 years. What a great set of iron sights. Brownells has them and a lot of sporting goods stores that handle Williams products can get them for you.

Thanks Bob, I'll check that out to see if they fit the deep dovetail. Cheers...Y
