I own a 7.5 SRH and really like it. It't got a aimpoint 5000 on it and it is accurate. I carry it in an across the chest holster. Both this and the 9.5 incher are to big and heavy to carry any other way.
If your using a scope or red dot the sight radius thing won't matter. The longer sight radius will give you an easier to shoot gun. The extra two inches of barrel will give you another 50 plus feet per second.
I would have a smith do a trigger job and a set of Wolf or Brownells springs in it.
I went from Smiths to the redhawks quite a while ago and though I loved those smiths the rugers are tougher, though probably not tougher than the new king of the hill 500 smith. The redhawks are certianly more affordable.
To be frank I've killed a lot of black bear, deer and one Brown with my 44 mag. If I need something bigger I'm gonna get a rifle. I shoot a rather mild load in mine, 255 grain hard cast Kieth at 1350 fps. Nice load to shoot, accurate and hits hard. 19 black bear and 8 or 10 deer.
I think you will like either one. The 7.5 is probably nicer to carry without a red dot or scope, but when you add one of those it probably won't make much difference.

Will recoil less than the shorter barrels.
About as much fun as dragging an anchor around in the woods, though.
Get a good shoulder holster.
My Redhawk is 5.5" inches. That's about right for a DA revolver, for me.
Oh - and welcome. Hope you like the forum!

If using a scope, 9.5" Super. If using open sights, standard 7.5" Redhawk. The 5.5" seem to balance like a brick for me and I've carried a 4" M29 since 1970. The std RH will fit either a crossdraw or vertical shoulder holster. The Super takes either a chest or bandolier holster or half ton truck. Its not a holster gun. Sometimes I really think the best way might be to put swivels on the barrel and the butt and just sling it.

if you are going for a 44mag I suggest the 7.5 hunter in a RedHawk. If you look at the specs its even a tad heavier, and if looks have anything to do with it!!!. I have 2 RedHawks, one with springs and one with out. The springs give a real advantage to the DA. I applied this to my 5.5 RH, which is a carry field gun. My 7.5 RH wears a Red Dot and is not tricked out, and shoots great. I have not seen alot of trigger problems in pistols, as long as they are crisp and around 3lb.

I have a Super Redhawk in 7 1/2 in. that I hunt hogs with without scope. I carry it in a holster on my chest I think from Uncle Mikes. It's no burden walking the woods.

I have the SRH in .44 mag w/ 9 1/2" barrel, Leopold scope. I use it to hunt deer from a tree stand, so it's not like I'm walking through the woods holding it all the time. I don't find the extra 2 1/2" a burden. And as was mentioned before, you get some extra velocity, and the recoil is a little bit less (not that I've noticed - a friend of mine has the 7 1/2").
