View Full Version : Chamber throats

I have a couple of Ruger revolvers that don't like cast bullets. I think the problem is that they have small throats. My .32 mag Single Six is horrible with any commercial (or cast-my-self) bullet. It will not shoot a good group and after 15 or so shots takes an epic scrubbing event to release the leading. I would like to shoot a good 100 grain SWC or .32-20 bullet (115 grain) but it won't work. It shoots fine with Hornady XTP's. I cannot force any of my .312 or .313 cast bullets through the chambers, so I think they may be too small. I have a .45 Bisley with the same basic trouble. What I need is either a recommendation for a gunsmith to open the throats (TX Panhandle area) or a recommendation to use smaller bullets. Will that work? I really need to use commercially cast bullets now due to time constraints, but I am willing to try some smaller size bullets if they may work.
Please send personal replys to my email (matt.branstine@region16.net) since the only time I can access the internet is at work (at a school) that blocks fine sites such as this.
Thanks for your help
