View Full Version : Marlin 336A 35 remington
Bought a rifle today that I believe was a good deal. It is a marlin 336A lever action, and the serial number begins with a G. Also, it has an older Redfield "Partner" scope on it, 3 x 9 x 40, and it says made in the USA. I could find no info on the scope on the internet, and I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the rifle ( year of manufacture) or scope. The rifle had a little rust on the outside, but cleaned up nice, with a beautiful bore. scope is in great shape, and I got the package for 220.00

It looks as though you have a 1950 pre safety deal!!
The redfield scope is a good one and I just tracked down the co. that now own's them I can't find the data but will post it later. They refurbish for $54.00. That .35 is one fine gitter, I have 2 and looking to a secret release of the .35SS later this year.

You did very well. Doubt you'll ever trade the .35 after using it. Just use the Redfield until it falters, then rebuild. You'll be using that one long after the "neat" ones are traded and forgotten.

Nice deal! I saw a 35 Rem./336A at Cabela's/Sidney late last Fall. I don't remember the price but I think it was closer to $300 with no scope. Rifle was in good shape but not special -- a solid "shooter." So it sounds like you made a good deal.
I have a 35 Rem/336 (1972) and a 30-30/336A DL (1952). Sure wish I could wiggle my nose and turn them into one rifle: 336A DL in 35 Rem. But I guess I'll just have to hang onto both of them the way they are.

I offered a guy $245.00 for one at a gun show this past weekend. It had no scope and the wood had some crappy refinishing job on it. He was trying to sell it as NIB. The pissant got all huffy and acted insulted by my offer. Well maybe he should have been. Anyway, sounds like you got a fine deal.
