I have been reading this board for several months now and have gained a wealth of information from this forum. *

Is there anyone who makes/sales an intermediate power load in the 1600-1700fps range using the 405 gran bullet that doesn't cost more than ฮ for a box of 20.

From my experience the manufactures either offer mild (trapdoor strength) or hot (Buffalo Bore, Garrett) rounds. *Is there an interest in a intermediate load (1600-1700 fps/405gr) for use against large game (i.e. elk/moose)? *If you would like to see an intermediate load developed and offered for sale, what would you recommend? *Please be specific on the type of bullet (hard cast, soft point, etc.)

For those of you that reload what type of intermediate load do you use using the 1600-1700 fps / 405 gr bullet criteria? Please be specific on your componets, charge weight, and accuracy.

In addition, has anyone used the Remington 405gr soft point on elk/moose and what was your experience with it?

Thank you in advance for your input and opinions.

I load my own 45-70 rem 405gr with 52gr IMR-3031
W-W cases CCI-200 primers Lee Factory crimp-1800fps
This will take out an elk no problem.Install a pachmayr recoil pad on your gun and it tames the hot loads. These loads are for a modern Marlin 1895 lever gun.Check out Marlins web page under big bore rifles.
