The Williams folks told me part number 60217 Dovetail Firesight Set is what I am looking for. I pulled the scope off my gun and want to use open sights. The red front optic and the green rear optic seem like a real good idea to me and should be real easy to pick up in the sight window. I think I favor this arrangement better than the peep sight on the rear with just the red optic on the front.
Does anyone have direct experience with this and is this the correct part number for the 1895G? Does someone else make something better?

I have a set of these on my Remington 700 muzzle loader. I an getting older and those sights make it much easier for me to shoot open sights again.
Here in Idaho you can only shoot open sights or peep sights on the muzzle loaders for big game. I can shoot these sights well out to a hundred yards or past.
They are extremly easy to see and sight with, kinda like the tritium sights on my pistol. Just line up the three dots with the center on target and go.
If you contact Brownells tech department they will give you the numbers for the correct sight for your Marlin 1895 G.

I have the Williams front and rear FireSights on my Rem M700 ML muzzleloader and the front on two of my 3 Marlins, the .375Win and .45-70. A couple days ago I ordered another front FireSight for the Marlin .30-30 I pcked up a couple weeks ago.
Needless to say, I love them. Iron sights are hard on my eyes, but the FireSights eliminate a lot of the problems.

I have them on my 94, my 336RC, my 336 30-30 and my GS.
They work great and i would NOT go with anything else

I saw a few rifles so outfitted at the gun show over the weekend. I'm sold. I couldn't believe how easy they were to pick up when shouldering the gun.
Had the boomer out on Sunday with factory iron sights. I was able to hit 3" Shoot-N-See targets at 50 yards. It was difficult to do but pretty good for these old eyes. Can't wait to get the fiber optics. It's funny to see the attention the Guide Gun gets at the range. I offer to let people shoot it but have very few takers. Most are intimidated just looking at the size of the cartridge. When they hear the noise they just shake their head and walk away.
You may want to try a aperture receiver site such as a Williams foolproof with a twilight aperture. Just focusing on the front site is a lot easier than trying to line up the rear with the front. I use this set up on my trapper and guide gun.

I'm not familiar with the term "twilight aperture". I've used peep sights in the past and am not overly fond of them. When I first bought the gun I outfitted it with the Ashley Owen Ghost Ring Aperture sight set. I couldn't hit anything with that set up, I do much better with the Buck Horn sights. Then I went to a Burris Signature scope and discovered just how accurate the gun is. I pulled the scope off after I toted it around this past deer season and am back to the original factory sights. I saw the Firesights on a gun at the local gun show and really liked them alot. What is a twilight aperture?
