Will the Mod 336 XS Scout Mount fit on a 444s? I tried sticking with the factory iron sights but I was spraying shots six inches at 30 yards. Didn't know I could be that bad! Anyway, I would like to work up some 300 grain loads this summer and test them with a fixed 4X for the upcoming season. Also what scope would be good in the $100 range?

XS lists the scout mount separately for the 336 and 1895, which leads me to believe that there is a difference in the rear sight dovetails. So to be on the safe side get the XS Sight Systems model number 28-2141A-095-1.

You will also need an intermediate eye relief scope for that mount, although some pistol scopes will work as well. I believe an eye relief of 8 to 11 inches works.

Has anyone tried the Simmons Pro-Hunter handgun scope? It's a 4X 32MM Obj with 11.8-17.6 inches of eye relief. It's also priced right at $100.
