I really have been having a very good time shooting my 5943 DAO in 9mm. I now have made a decision to purchase a 1911 style 45 acp. I'm also looking for a compact version of my 5943 but in TDA or DAO.
I have decided on the S&W 1911Sc but in the 4.25" Bbl and one other manufacture of 1911. I would really appreciate any feedback on the S&W1911 that you folks have.
I also would like help in identifing any Performance Center 45acp in the 5900 or other models that are dimensionally like my 5943.

Leo;
i cannot comment on the S&W 1911, but these guys can...

What I can tell you is that if you are in fact happy with the 59 series, why not think about the 45xx series. My 4506 will feed rocks, and if they had primers, it'd shoot them accurately enough.
It's built like a tank, and now that I've added adj. sites to it, it shoots on par with my expensive Springfield 1911.
This gun will literally hand cycle a full mag of empty cases. It has never had a ftf or other glitch, and I'm up to 1000 rounds so far. I purchased it as a PD trade in.

I really like my 5943 like I said. I probably should try for a 4500 series S&W. Your 4506 is it single or double I see the decocker?
What is funny is my friends try my 5943 and they complain about the trigger. Then after 2 - 3 mag's most of the time they have shot better. I coach them a little when they try it and of couarse I dont tell them everything

my 4506 is DA...meaning I can fire it from hammer down position or cocked.
the lever is just a decocker, but also act as a safety when activated, by de-activating the trigger/firing assembly.

You might look at para-ordnance double action pistols. I just sold my 4013 Smith Tacticle, not because I didn't like it but I didn't like it throwing brass 15 feet away.
It had one of the best double action triggers I've ever used except for the para-ordnance. I was truly amazed at this trigger. It was as good as any Smith and Wesson worked over double action revolver I have used.
I'm afraid I'm a wheel gun guy and that shorty forty has layed in my dresser drawer for five or six years now. I don't think I've shot more that a couple of hundred rounds thru it in the past year.

Bob, I have tried the Para's they are very nice . I like the DAO because of the mechanics, no light trigger to acidently discharge. I like that if you can shoot DAO auto's than Revolvers are close to the same thing. Para's are definity in line for me to buy. The one I want is the small CCW syle in DAO

Kimber 1911's are an excellent pistol. I have the Team Match II pistol. (very tight and accurate- $1150) I also own a SW1911 ($650.00). Shoots very well with the Novac carry sights. My trigger needed to be replaced (which I did myself). I would handle a Smith at the store and see for yourself, for the money they are a fine pistol.
