This rifle just got written up by Brian Pierce in the current "Rifle" for his brown bear hunt in South Central with Ed Stevenson.
Seems like a reliable barebones gun. I'm a fan of the M70 action, and I like the SS/synthetic combo for the rain country (although it ain't the prettiest thing to look at).
Any experience with this gun?

i just bought the same gun last october i have not got a chance to hunt with it yet but what i can tell you is it is a fairly accurate rifle out of the box i glass and pillar bedded mine, it is a fairly heavy rifle i would consider having the barell cut down an inch or two thats were most weight is on this thing also a new recoil pad is definetly needed it felt like my buddys 470capstick when i first shot it after the simms recoil pat is feels like a 30-06 im taking it black bear baiting within the next couple weeks ill let you know how it does after that.

Take that rifle and lop it off to 20" and you have a real dandy bear gun. Brockmans make a really nice scope mount/ghost ring combo for it that is a definate must. Top it with a Leupold 1.5-5 and you have a fantastic rifle for 90% of your alaskan hunting.
