I just bought a new lee mold and being new to casting the booklet included said to lube the v ribs and cross pins with bullet lube and not to use liquid alox.It will be a while before I can get back to a place wherem I can purchase bullet lube. Are there any common household items I could use instead. I thought about paraffin or bees wax. Please advise.

I use a candle. Just a dab on the v locks and pins and a tiny bit where the spru cuts off. Been casting with these molds for a lot of years now and never had a problem. Just don't get it in the part of the mold that makes the bullets. Takes just a little. I do it when the mold is hot. Be sure and smoke the mold good before casting. You can use a candle for that to. I also use it to flux my lead pot.

Me and faucettb use the same lube for Lee molds...get it hot, and touch a candle stub to the pins.

Sometimes it's a "hippy" candle made mostly of bees wax (I look out for those things at garage sales and such)..sometimes just a normal everyday candle.

Same here, I use whatever candle I have handy, it is usualy one of the ones from a 10 pack of emergency candles.
