I ordered a BP Xpress sight unseen back in January and finally received it last week. After installing Leupold dual dovetail bases and rings and mounting a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14 scope, I was off to the range. I loaded up the recommended 200 gr Pyrodex and 300 gr Hornady SST and sighted in 5" high at 100 yards. I grouped 5 shots in a quarter. I moved out to 200 yards and did the same. In all I shot (4) 5 shot groups at 50-100-125 and 200 yards and each could be covered with a quarter. To be honest, the recoil is STIFF but not unmanageable. The fit and finish of the gun is FIRST CLASS as is the company. Randy Johnson called to make sure I liked my gun.
I will say upfront that the gun is EXPENSIVE, but that is NOT AN ISSUE with me. In my opinion, I got what I paid for. I have other muzzleloaders that I can shoot well but none perform like my BP Xpress.

(Did a search and only found this old thread)
Through connections, I am being commissioned to design and re-stock a muzzleloader for a logger who has been saving some high-quality walnut for quite some time. Why me? I don't know.
Anyways, I haven't found out yet what ML he will be getting but from what I hear, it sounds like he it will be one of the UF BP Xpress muzzleloaders.
Sounds like they are good. I was wondering though a few things though. Because it's a muzzleloader and the BP Xpress ML's are primed with .45 Magnum cases, do the stocks have full floorplates for bottom metal or just trigger guards alone? Are the barreled actions set up single-shot (solid bottomed?) or is there something else?
I was thinking of ways to get as much accuracy out of the gun as possible and the idea came to my head yesterday to keep the barrel entirely free-floating by mounting the ramrod into the stock and not the barrel. Is this possible (or even desired?)
Any advice on this is useful, as well as any more insight and experiences with the BP Xpress muzzleloaders. Seems like a pretty ingeneous idea to use a Remington 700/40x or Howa action as the "lock" of a muzzleloader. Should make it alot easier for me to do the inletting and bedding.
Thanks.
