I know this isn't real big news, but it is a note for me. As you can see, a fellow made a great 60 yard shot with his Ruger 480 using Cast Performance and had a bullet fracture going at what I would call a moderate to lower velocity.(on impact) I thought everyone knew that 6% antimony was too much . As far as I know, the cheaper cast bullets like Oregon trail and my own Mid-Kan have this Hardball combination designed for higher velocity applications. The lower antimony that Marshall talks of really hits home when you see this report. I used lower antimony content bullets ( wheel weights), on my bullets hunting bison. I used a higher velocity, and had pass throughs on everything. Alot has been made on using lower velocity for maximum penetration. The Linebaugh has been thought to have the best penetration of any big bores, so I thought that the fracture and non-complete penetration was amazing. This was not a lengthwise shot. No doubt fracturing of a hardcast of any antimony content is possible, but apperently it is less likely with the 3% antimony.
