I've been casting for a number of years.Maybe I've been lucky so far but I've got a set of moulds that have stumped me! Their a double cav,136gn .358.The problemis that the over flow is sticking to the spuce cutter.I have to pry the lead out/off the top of the spruce cuter each time I pour!Theres nothing wrong with the proj's.Any help or advice would be appreciated.(knowing my luck it'll be something simple) :p

Check the sprue holes for old lead sticking to the steel surfaces. Sometimes this is a little hard to see as lead may blacken with age and look like part of the plate. The new overflow tends to stick to it and won't come off short of pulling it off with a pair of pliers. If you pick at it with a sharp tool, be sure you keep the same cutting angles so you won't dull the edges. An alternative would be to use a torch and a quick wipe with a rag to remove any old lead. Check the bottom of the sprue plate for any accumulated lead and clean with a sharp razorblade. If this won't cure your problem, replace the sprue plate. Hope this helps.
