Another Dumb Q Can You Use Another Die Set To Neck Size And Seat A Bullet In A 300 Savage

Not that I iknow of..die would have to be reamed for somthing shorter and fatter than the .300Savage case, and there aren't many common dies that fit that description. Think you're going to have to just bit the bullet and buy a .300Savage det.

Actually you can seat most 30 calibre bullets with Hornedy's 30 calibre bullet seater. Their seaters are universal for calibre and not cartridge specific. As far as sizing you need a die calibre specific.

You can get a collet sizing die set from Lee that will give you a neck size die and bullet seater die at a really good price. check Midway or Midsouth out.

I use Lee's four die rifle sets that give you a collet neck sizing die, a full length sizing die, a bullet seater and a factory crimp die. You should full length resize all cases the first time they go in your gun, especially if it has been fired in another weapon before. (sometimes they fit sometimes they don't.)

A set of dies will last a lifetime if you take care of them and pay for themselves many times over in ammo costs saved.

Will the Hornady seating die accomodate the short .300 Savage case, Bob? Guess there's not a whole lot of difference between it and the .308 Win, for that matter.

I've got a good selection of Hornady neck sizing dies that I use for general reloading. Just have to watch the lever pull and not crank down excessively hard on some, as you might collapse the shoulder. Can feel it bottom out on the shoulder and then stop. Use of lube on neck and case mouth aids greatly.

Any 30 caliber die should seat a bullet in your 300 Savage if you can adjust it to do the job.Somemdiesmay be too long or too short.
The same goes for neck sizing.
I stil(for 20 year)use othr caliber dies to necksizeand seat bullet in my 7.65 Argo.I just bought a fulllength sizer die for i.
