Fellow caster's .I have decided that I'm going to try something new .In the form of the Lee Sizer& Lee Liquid Alox.
Now I understand the aplication of the lube by "tumbling the bullets in a container. But ! How do you know when you have used to much or more importantly to little lube? & secondly .What is the popular opion of the Lee Sizer ? I'm looking at .312-.314 in die size.

This technique is all that I know and I get good results. The sizer works nose first on a bullet, and of course this is preferred for bullet concentricity. I use the Lee case lube with alcohol mixed applied to bullets before sending through. This will save time and your sizer. (and arms). The amount of lube (alox) I am sure varies with individuals. I get an enormous amount of bullets per bottle of lube. I bought 12 to begin with, and am on my second bottle. I just coat them with a very thin layer. Very unscientific, but effective. I shoot two to 300 bullets per week, and have for 2 years. Probably a thousand pounds of wheel weights, and very little lube used. Others really slacker it on. Its up to you.

The Lee sizer is an exellent option to a standard sizing set up, and works good with the method you are going to use. Lots of people like it because it pushes the bullet through the die nose first, causing less deforming of the bullet.

Been using it for years and years. I just dribble some on about a hundred bullets at a time in a cottege cheese container or whipped cream container and sluice them around til there lightly coated. Sit them base up on some wax paper or tin foil and Let them sit overnight and put the gas checks on and run thru the sizer. I lube them once more lightly and let them dry overnight. Their now ready to load and shoot. If your doing bullets that don't need a gas check I just lube them and load them. I've used two or three bottles in the last three years. Use a little alcohol to thin it out.

This is the best lube and sizer system I have ever used. I used to have a lyman lubra sizer and used the stick lubes. Had to have a nose punch for every different bullet I used. The Lee system is easy and does not lead the barrels of my revolvers. I'm going to order a couple of rifle dies and molds for the 308 and the 7mm to see how they work in the rifles.

Good luck in your casting and sizing, be extremly careful though this stuff is highly addictive.

I use it like the others do but watch the muzzle of my barrel to tell me what my waxing technique is accomplishing. I think I read this in Lee's Modern Reloading II which offers some great info on the Lee casting equipment. I'm looking for a trace of wax at the muzzle during my shooting sessions. Too much wax and it's sloppy at the muzzle and not enough and it's dry. If you touch a cotton patch to the muzzle it will produce a star that conforms to the rifling in the barrel. Its pretty easy to relate this info to the coating applied to the bullets and adjust your next session. Bottom line is that it depends. The coating I give my 45 APC bullets (660 FPS) is a bit different than the coating I give my 444 Marlin bullets (2370 FPS).

Bob from Idaho is right, this is highly addictive and I love the smell of the stuff!

Reference your question concerning the sizing die to purchase... you didn't mention the caliber and particulars of the firearm. If Lee doesn't have a cataloged size that fits my particular rifle, I just special order the die.
