Hi just wondering if you guys are still able to buy the Compressionformed AA hulls for reloading.I live in N.Z down under and the good old compformed hull has been replaced with a Polyformed one.I have had 4 primers dropout while shooting leaving me with a gun full of powder and a very red face, this has never happened before. The poly hulls give good patterns but they just arent the same as the compformed AAs.
Regards..

The older Winchester AA hulls are sometimes available, but are getting harder to find. When I deprime shotshell cases, I run them through a MEC SuperSizer to take the case head back to factory specs. I have not had any primers fall out. All the best...

Thanks for the tip Gil,I havent had to use a super sizer before, but it may be a good idea with this cheap made hull from Winchester.

Keen1,
Have these been reloaded already? Possibly with a larger primer like CCI or Fiochi? The only time I had primers fall out of the AA was after they had been loaded with Fiochi primers, then I tried loading them with Winchester primers.

Hi Joe ,the hulls were once fired factory ammo that I obtained from the vineyards after the bird shooting season ends.
The primers were very hard to extract from the hulls,as a matter of fact I dont think Ive put some much effort into the job before as I did with those shells.
Also the crimp splits quickly so I only use them for one reload and then toss them away.
BRING BACK THE AA!!

I find that interesting that you are having so many problems with these winchester cases. Have probably reloaded mine four to five times now haven't had any problems that you are suggesting. I run mine through a mec 9000g a crimps look as good as factory and primers come out very easily. My guess is that you may have picked up a bad case of shells. I did have a similar problem with both sts and the new AA hulls when my friend bought some cci primers for me to reload his shells.
Keen1 what load are you using in these?

Hi am using the red and grey AA polyformed Sporting 2000 hull.
The primers feel as though they have been glued in with super glue and you have use alot of push to get them to come out, some dont come out at all and leave a buldge in the bottom of the hull with a primer sticking half way out??
I am loadig them in a MEC 600jr set up the way described at the winchester website.
I load the hulls with 32.5grs 540 WAA12SL wad W209 Primer 11/8oz load 5# shot.
The crimps have splits in them after the first firing,I can get more loads out of a Polyformed fiocchi hull, sad but true cos I have used Win AAs for years with no problems till now.

That makes me wonder if the shells that the are sending down there have a waterproof seel over the primer. You may have to find out from olin ie. winchester if they have doen something with the primers.
