I was wondering if anyone knew where to get parts for a high standard hb pistol. I love mine, but the slide spring messed up and know it won't cycle.

There's a couple of websites that specialize in High Standards. Try checking them out.

The HB was introduced in 1950. The .22 rimfire ammo available at that time was much milder than many high speed .22 ammo offerings in today's market.

I collect, and sometimes display High Standard pistols at the Lakeland FL gun shows. I often get comments from shooters who want to know why their pistol isn't functioning properly. I tell them to try some standard velocity or target ammo. This usually solves the problem.

Once you get your pistol repaired, stay with this type ammo.

When you think about it, a "blow back" action is designed within certain tolerances of recoil developed by the cartridge. We now have .22 ammo, made all over the world, that varies widely over the energy spectrum. It would be unreasonable to expect your pistol's action to function perfectly with any type of ammo manufactured. Some .22 ammo may even be able to damage an older pistol.
