Took it to the range yesterday. It consistently groups around FIVE INCHES at 50 metres from the bench - brand new gun. All cases were burnt black on the outside, as was the top/front of the carrier block - oversized bore?

I spoke to the Uberti/Beretta warranty manager today and he wants it back ASAP for inspection/testing. It's on it's way now.

The ammo used was Winchester .357 125 Gr jacketed HP and .38 Spl 158 Gr Lead RN, basically all I could get.

While this may be a purely rifle problem has anyone used a factory .357 round that performs significantly better through a rifle?

I've found PMC 357 ammo works well through the lever guns I've used, but as you know its all trial and error

I, had a Rossi for years in .357 .With a over size bore ! It hated factory ammo yet shot acceptable groups with hand loads!

I have been a Magtech 158gr JSP fan, but it's difficult to get at the moment. However, it's a fine, if much derided by the purists, round for accuracy from a 4" revolver, and even better from an 18" 1894C. I haven't hunted with it yet (pigs are in short supply in SE Qld 'cos of the drought - I'm waiting for Dave H to invite me to SA to teach me a thing or two ;) ).
