Well I thought I'd drop you all a line and let you know I'm off to do my Basic training on the 4th of July and begin my military career. I have enlisted as an Armament Fitter in the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Enigineers. I'll be away for 3months or so before I get posted to the ALTC in Victoria which may be the first chance I get to see you guys again, so while I still have about a month to go I thought I'd say this now before things get too hectic and I lose track of time so. Thanks for everyones input and answers to questions I have asked and I'll see you all again soon(ish). Recruit S Richards

You realize, of course, that July 4th is Independence Day here - the day we celebrate shucking the yoke of the English! :D
