Sorry, no experience with the Rossi but I do have a 92 Win, and as you say, very smooth action. Let us know how she shoots. What kind of targets do you have in mind?

I'll be taking it out to chase wild goats and pigs in a few weeks and I'll be taking targets of opportunity foxes etc I think I have a new favorite hunting rifle! Most shots I take at game are 75m or less and for the long stuff my 303 will reach out past 400m if I do my part so all in all the 92 will be the one in my hands the most!

I recentlybought a Rossi 92 in .357mag/.38spl. I had heard they were not quality guns, but mine is one of the best levers I have ever owned, slick, accurate, reliable and handy.
Try the '92 section here or:

Varmints up to about 100-150lbs will be about the upper limit. Just not enough bullet weight. Handloading, be sure to try bullets of about 215-220gr. Anything longer and heavier protrudes below the case neck (powder contamination) and won't stabilize properly.

My mate is reloading for me at the moment, we're exprimenting with tweaking the loads up to a mildish .44mag load with 200grainers molycoated should be interesting I know the brass is thinner but it shouldn't be a big deal if I lose a case quicker if my bullet hits harder I'm happy!

The Magma 215gr .44 bullet works nicely for general use and better penetration. If you cast your own or have someone who does, the Lyman 429215GC would be perfect. Look to H4227(you know its Aussie equivalent) and RL7. Fine in rifles, but nearly useless in handguns. BOL

Use only .44WCF data. Due to variations in cases, chambers and standard bullet weights, .44 Mag data cannot be transposed.
