Just bought a new 9422M Laminated, 400 euros. It was on sale, more traditional one with walnut stock was 700 euros. I really like walnut more than this "candy" looking laminate, but if there is so big difference at prices and so little difference at guns, well you know, money talks. Haven't been able to shoot it yet, but at the weekend we'll see what kind of gun I have bought. It's really good to handle, and this is propably the gun I carry at bird hunting season.

Action is pretty smooth, cant compare to anything since it was my first time handling a lever action as I bought this, but trigger felt pretty heavy. Not too bad, but just a little heavy.

Ammo for this one is pretty darn expensive, but well, I bought this one mainly for hunting. Bought some .308 same time and they were 0,18e/piece and .22 wmr was somewhere around 0,22e/piece. Maybe did a stupid deal, maybe not, we'll see.

Congratulations on your purchase. They are excellent rifles. Mine is a laminated .22LR and I love it.
How's the euro vs. dollar these days?

One euro is approx. 1,22 dollars. Today I'm going to the range and test it.

I went, I shot, and I like it! Thought that my Anchutz 1541 fit well to my hands, but this 9422 is like if it has grown to my hand! It's getting clearer and clearer that I really like American weapons the most.

There wasn't good rest for my gun on the range, so true accuracy is yet to be seen, but best groups were somewhere around 1-2 inches at 55 yards anyway, and I probably wont shoot any better with any gun.

Btw, how much do 9422 cost in LR beyond the big water? As I get used to this Winchester, and as the charm of a new gun fades away a little, I am maybe going to change my Anchutz to 9422 in LR. I know, mayge 9422 isn't as accurate as Anchutz, but 9422 feels better and is much more fun to shoot.

The 9422 has been dis-continued by Winchester. They have a last batch conmemorative series for 2005. New-in-box standard 9422's are between $300-$400. Last models between $400-$500. And then they have some exclusive models for around $1,500.00. Rumors are it is going to be replaced with a new cheaper model. Prices of the old style may go up.

Even the prices of not-so-traditional laminated ones? How common this laminated-stock 9422 is anyway, couldnt find a pic of it from google. Seems that our retailers here in Finland take a good bit of money to themselves if new 9422 is 500 dollars there and 700 euros here. Well, thats the way the things have been for some time (at least my father says so).

Now I'm looking for a good diopter/peep-sight rear sight. Should be something that doesn't need any changes to receiver or anywhere, that probably means that it should come to scope-rail.

I think the laminated versions weren't a hit, so they didn't make too many. We have the same problem in Puerto Rico with the prices, we use US dollars, but everything is more expensive here than in the mainland USA.
Do a search on this site, as there was somebody recently talking about a peep sight that would mount on the scope rail. I just don't remember who it was. I also have a Marlin 1897T (similar to the 39A) which I drilled and tapped for a Williams receiver sight. Search with my name on the 39A site.

My local gunshop has what may be the last new 9422 in Australia - price is $1100. To buy or not to buy....?
