I just brought home a 94 compact in 30-30 for me and the kids.
The problem is the trigger pull has got to be at least ten pounds.
Will shooting the heck out of it help or am I looking at a trigger job. I am reasonably handy but this is my first lever action and I feel a little uneasy about self repair.

I bought a M94 Trapper in 357 Mag from a guy I worked with 5-6 years ago. I have shot it quite a bit and finally just took it in for a trigger job 2 months ago. The gun smith checked the pull when I brought it in and it was at 8lbs before the trigger job. He worked on it and got it down to around 4.5 lbs. I haven't been able to take it out and shoot it since the trigger job but I expect a real improvement over what it was.
