I've owned a Marlin 336 in the past and recently acquired a NIB Winchester 94 in 357. Beautiful gun.

I noticed that the levers on both guns have/had more "slack" than I would have expected. I've sold the Marlin, but I was wondering if there was a way to tighten up the slack on the lever on the Winchester. It can "wiggle" significantly when you cock the gun and the lever doesn't hold itself tightlyl to the stock when returned.

Is that "normal"? Can a gunsmith tighten up the lever?

Thanks for looking.

Yes this is normal. If you look at an exploded drawing of thse new rifles you will notice an anti-rattle washer in the lever linkage. If yours has been apart there is a possibility this was not re-inserted as most people are unaware it is there. IF yours has not been apart they do have a little side play in the levers.
The lever not remaining up against the grip is part of the safety feature of the M-94. The lever should rest slightly below the grip and you squeez the lever up to the grip with your firing hand when you are ready to shoot. This realeases the trigger block. Soon you not even notice it.
