For years I have shot either pumps or autos - currently two Beretta AL 391s, but have always thought about giving an O/U a try. In checking with a local sporting goods store they have the discontinued Beretta Whitewing for $999 and a Vernoa LX 505 for $579. I assume the Beretta is a finer shtogun - I know up their line there are some very fine guns, but at these prices which would be a better value. I would use it as a backup to my AL 391 for pheasant hunting.

Opinions?? Any one with experience with either of these guns?

Just to let any reader know I purchased the Verona LX505. I found considerable information and opinion over at Shotgunworld. com (http://www.shotgunworld.com/bbs/index.php). I was new to that forum, but found it very useful.
