Well boys,let me start at the bginn,well maybe not at the bginn, sumers btween the bginn and the end. Anyways, I wus 5 er 6 years old, jest a toeheaded youngun, meaner than a yard dog, least at's what paw always said. Now mind ya, I'd seen momma aplenty mad more an once. But this here day wus different, us youngun's wus playing out in the yard,we wus always outside aplaying, don't recolect jest what we wus playing, coulda been tossin chickens,er maybe swang the dog, jest can't recolect. Oh well it don't matter nun anyway.
This here highway departmunt truck stoped out on the road by where ya turned to come t the house.Fore er five of em highway departmunt guys gets out and starts diggin a hole, then they gets out this sign and puts it in the hole, mixes up some cement and pours it in the hole.
Now I recolect, we wus tossin chickens, cause it wern't long ,momma holered fer us t come in and eat dinner. Momma had fixed some chicken, seems like we shore eat a whole lota chicken, anyway we told momma bout em highway guys and the sign while we wus eatin dinner. So after we quit eatin momma goes out to the road and looks at the sign, all of asudden momma comes arunin back to the house, jumps up on the porch and in the house she goes.
I never will forgit what i saw next, momma come out of at house with pawpaws ol double barrel, he always kept it loaded with double ought buckshot. She took her a bead on em boys and let loose with both barrels, they wus tring to get in the truck,on the truck or under the truck, they wus scramblin. Momma loaded up and started to em, reckun she figgered they wus a mite out of range. Jest bout the time momma got in range, they took off, she unloaded both barrels at em again and then she holered at em " my children may be a mite special , but they ain't SLOW " :D :D
