I want to put one of these on my 1895 Cowboy but am wondering, whats the useful range out of these things? I notice that they classify it as a short/medium range sight...what kind of yardage can i expect to get out of it?

I have a marbles tang sight on my 1895 CB and I have shot out to 200 yards with it. I'm sure it can handle more, but I haven't tried it.

Are some black powder shooters that do shoot out to the long-long ranges...their sights kind of sitck up in the air a good bit. Need to to get the elevation needed for thjose 600-800-and even 1000 yard targets.

The Marbles (or the lYman...but the Marbles is a nicer sight) has more than enough elevation to get you on target out to 250-300 yards.

You could also get a shorter front sight if the tang sight didn't quite do it for ya.that way you still have a handy sized sight compared to the long range types.
