Hiya all, a couple of weeks ago before going on vacation I was at the local GM store picking up ammo for the trip. My boys (18 and 16) and I were headed to the Northwoods of Wisconsin for some fun time. Fishing, boating, shooting etc. Anyway, as usual I stopped by the firearms section and was just looking around to see what there was to see....I ran across a neat looking little rifle, black synthetic furniture, blue barrel and a black scope. Picked it up and wanted it right away. I never had a 22LR rifle before, and had been passively looking for one. Was going to go with a Ruger 10/22 but have been on the fence about picking one up. The rifle was a Marlin 795 .22LR rifle and came with a scope. Yeah the scope was not top of the line but for plinking?? What really do you need??? I noticed the price on the rifle $129 and asked the guy if that was complete with scope. He says yes it was. I already had a ton of ammo I was buying then told him I would take the rifle as well. He tossed in 4 bricks of 22lr and off I went.
The rifle ate up near 800 rounds with no issues what so ever...I've heard 22 rifle plinking is tons of fun ....now I know...we had a blast....

Well, it looks like your having way to much fun. That little Marlin should make you a fun plinker. I've had a couple over time and liked them, seems now I've ended up with a CZ 452 bolt action that is a tack driver. Got out of the auto's cause of my granddaughters. Bolts are a little safer for a 11 and 12 year old.

Have fun and God bless

Yepper faucettb, loads of fun...heck I never even fired a long gun until last fall when I got my first SKS. All of my guns have been handguns... I now have 2 SKS's and the Marlin 22. Still thinkin I'd like a lever gun....
