Someone that received a degree with a major in Film? An Art major?
Does that imply that people majoring in film supplement their income by delivering pizza?

Heard of many specialty ranks in the military, but Film Major is a new one to me. Enlightment?

University humor....an aquired taste. Perhaps a bit of humor form a school with "A&M" in it's name?
....as I remember it, the answer was:
"Buy a magazine subsctipion."

Love it. Had a high school chum that got a degree in some private (expensive) liberal arts college, and worked as a waiter at a chain restaurant after graduation ....
Meanwhile... my B.S. in Computer Science from a state school provided just a bit better standard of living... :D

Was that a joke kdub? I was referring to a college major, not a millitary rank.
Film is a pretty common major, up here anyway. Ever hear of "film school"? That can be an entire organization dedicated to film education, or a school in a university. The "joke" was implying not that such a student would supplement their income while in school, but rather those who have received their degree in film find it difficult to get work.
I have a buddy who majored in film -- smart, talented guy -- he was brought up yesterday, and someone told me that joke. I suppose it could be applied to a great deal of degrees or majors (english, history...).
Kinda like "what do you want on your hamburger". I suppose our educational centers here in Ioway have a 'film' major, but also suspect the 'moo U' majors are a lot more prevalent.

this is true, I had a friend who got an English degree, with a math minor. He stayed in school and got a Math degree and now hangs his English degree for everyone to see in his closet.

Now now now...
Some of us do just fine with our "softer" degrees. My BAs in Religious Studies and French, and MA in Religious Studies serve me very well in my job as a Project Manager for a telcom consulting company :)
Thats just for paying the bills (ammo, cleaning supplies, etc). Teaching Modern Middle Eastern History and Comparative Religion as a college instructor turns out to be a great use for my education, and far more fulfilling.
And for the record, I've never gone door to door selling magazines, or making pizza deliveries :)
cheers
