Has anyone out there used a 300 Gr WFNGC bullet for elk with the 45-70? If so what were your results? I was hoping to load a hard cast 300 Gr for elk out to about 200 Yards. If not the next choice would be 405 GR WFNGC. I'm hoping for a little experience here. Thanks!

I have used the 45/70 on blackbears, moose, hogs and whitetail deer with 400+ weight bullets. I would think you would want a heavier bullet also for elk. I would NOT use the Winchester factory ammo on anything but hogs or deer.
