I just ordered a ProStaff 2x7 shotgun scope to go on my 1895GS. The Parallax is set at 75yds which sould be about right considering this gun is going to be used for brush hunting. I've never owned a Nikon scope before, but this one has a lifetime warrenty, so I'm not really worried. Although the 45/70 has a rep for destroying lesser made scopes. Anyone out there used one of these scopes before? As for bases and rings, I was thinking about using weaver as it would save some money, just not sure if they are the way to go. Any suggestions in that department would be helpfull as well. Thanks in advance.

The one and only Nikon I have is a 3x9 Monarch that previously was mounted on a 6.5x257 Rob'ts AI. The scope wouldn't make adjustments after being mounted for several years and had to go back to Calif. for repairs.
Yes, they have a life time warranty - JUST BE SURE TO SAVE YOUR SALES RECEIPT AND WARRANTY CARD!!!!! You'll need both to send back, or they will not validate the warranty. Luckily, I had saved both over the years.
Scope still sits in the box on the shelf since coming back. Think I'll mount it on a 6.5x55 project rifle as soon as the new stock and Timney trigger get here.
